This is our black-crested Polish bantam hen. She's about six months old. Hubby was in the coop the other day when he noticed something unusual. Take a look at her crest. Is it our imagination, or does it look like she has red horns?

Her crest grew on the sides, but not in middle. With her pure black coloring and red "horns" she has the appearance of - well, you tell me. This one doesn't have a name yet... any suggestions?

Very cool! You have a she-devil, lol! My batch of teenage chickens have some of the weirdest combs I ever seen, but yours takes the cake!
Very neat, Barbara! I've seen those type combs in books before, but I don't think they're very common... she has beautiful plumage. My Silkie roosters have "mulberry combs"- I've never seen anything like it- they look like tiny clusters of grapes on top of their heads!!
I love the Polish breed- they're so much fun to have around!
actually that looks like another crested breed, the Crevecoeur look it up they're pretty neat
I believe thats called a 'La Fleche' you can google it.

Actually, the La Fleche breed has big white ear lobes and no crest. My chicken has a huge crest (typical of Polish hens) and no white on it all. Good guess, though!
